"Slammin' Sammy" Tumminello started boxing at the age of 13. In 1991, he joined the Reading Boxing Association (RBA) and registered with the ABF to compete as an amateur in the Lightweight Division. During his affiliation with the RBA, Sam had many sanctioned amateur fights as well as exhibitions.

Sam gained much of his vast boxing experience by sparring countless rounds with notable local area Professional Boxers such as "Joltin" Jimmy Ruoff (Golden Gloves Champion, NCBA Champion), Steve "Lightning" Little (WBC Super Middleweight Champion of the World), Bobby Heath, Craig "CT" Tomlinson and many more.

An injury ended Sam's bid for a Golden Gloves title before attending college but he had stayed active in the sport by teaching private lessons. He has now joined Joltin's Gym as a trainer and looks forward to working with our boxers in the Gym and as a Corner Man.
